Wits Mining Institute (WMI) invites students to apply for RTIMS Bursary Programme 2023 academic year.

ONE MASTERS AND ONE DOCTORATE BURSARY OPPORTUNITY AT THE SAMERDI RESEARCH CENTRE: RTIMS (REAL-TIME INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS), WITS MINING INSTITUTE (WMI)
Broadly, research topics will focus on the sourcing, collection, capturing and transferring of data
and information across the mining value chain in real-time (and or as appropriate), to facilitate
smarter decision enablement, operations, and control to improve the efficiency and safety of
mining operations, towards an Internet of Things (ITs), and 4IR readiness in the minerals sector.
Eligibility requirements for the RTIMS bursary
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying:
- The Doctoral applicant must be a black South African citizen, commencing as soon as possible
- The Masters applicant must be a black South African citizen from an Historically
- Disadvantaged Education Institution (HDEl), commencing in 2023
- Applicants must be a holder of a relevant Honours degree (for the Masters bursary) or Masters degree (for the Doctorate bursary) and/or demonstrable significant and verifiable credentials for recognition of prior learning (PL) as per Wits University’s requirements
- Must meet the University of Witwatersrand postgraduate admission requirements
- Must be able to study full-time, and be physically located at the WMI in Johannesburg, South Africa, for the duration of the studies

- The names of three contactable referees (at least two academic)
