Overview

University of Johannesburg (UJ) founded in 1 January 2005 is a public university in Gauteng. UJ has four campuses: the Auckland Park Kingsway, Auckland Park Bunting Road, Doornfontein and Soweto campuses –  all located in the metropolitan area of the City of Johannesburg.

The University has 8 Faculties viz., Education, Law, Humanities, Fine Arts, Design and Architecture, Health Sciences, Science,  Engineering and the Built Environment as well as the  College of Business and Economics, housing the newly established Johannesburg Business School.

University of Johannesburg (UJ) Accommodation / Residences

Important information:

  1. For first time applicants, first complete the academic application process and use your student/reference number to complete the residence application as indicated below. 
  2. Please click here for more information on student accommodation and residence life. 
  3. Once you have been academically admitted at the University in January 2021, and your received a letter of confirmation of placement in residence, you will be required to pay a residence deposit of R1220.00
  4. Admission to the University does not guarantee admission to the residences (depending on space availability)
  5. You may reside only on the campus where you attend your studies. 
  6. No residence transfers are allowed.
  7. Only applicants studying towards FULL TIME curricular undergraduate and postgraduate programmes may apply for residence.
  8. Residence online application is not available for 1st Time Entering Students 24 years and older.  You can download a hardcopy application form at the bottom of this page.
