Born on 20 March 1985, in Klerksdorp, North West, Robert Mpisi landed his first acting job in a drama series called TSHA TSHA for SABC 1 when he was just 17 years old.

Robert Mpisi’s first stage appearance was in the play Madeline En Sy Kinders when he was just seventeen.

Friends in the industry taught him a thing or two, including Candice Hillebr and and Dorothy Ann Gould who showed him the ropes, and he soon found himself in adverts, films and TV dramas.

He also acted in TV dramas such as Tsha Tsha, City Ses’la, Home Affairs, Good Friday Special, Take Charge and Buckets, a Swedish film about a boy who comes to South Africa to find his roots.

Robert has acted in popular adverts for Nashua Mobile and Boys Town as well as being a voice artist for a number of radio and TV ads, and also for the soapies Generations and Rhythm City.

On stage, Robert had the lead in Cellphone, a comedy production that was shown at the Grahamstown Festival. He also played a drug dealer in a play written by Dr. Allan Kolski called The Pump Room.

Robert speaks six languages fluently: English, Afrikaans, Xhosa, Sotho, Tswana and Zulu.
