Who Is ProVerb?

Born in 1981 in Kimberley Northern Cape, ProVerb decided on a career as a rapper early in life. In 1999, he began rhyming and by 2005 released his debut album titled “Book Of Proverb” under Outrageous Records, followed by his sophomore effort “Manuscript” on Gallo Record Company in 2006. His television career really took off in 2010, when he became a co-host of Idols SA season 6 with Liezel van der Westhuizen. He became sole host of the series in 2011 to date.

Born on April 11, 1981, in Kimberley Northern Cape, ProVerb is a South African popular rapper, radio and television personality. He was born to Dr Nomonde Thekisho (mother) and his father in Kimberly, Nothern Cape in the Republic of South Africa. He began schooling in 1987 and matriculated in 1998.  He has a sister who is an actress named Lerato Mvelase and also a brother Mpho Thekisho.

Proverb was married to a businesswoman Onalerona Moreo in 2005 and they divorced in 2015. They have two children together. Previously he was also involved in a romantic affairs with model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss South Africa 2015, Liesl Laurie.

Career of Proverb

ProVerb started his hip hop career in 1999, and has released four studio albums, namely his debut album The Book of ProVerb in 2005; followed by Manuscript in 2006; Write of Passage in 2009; and Fourthwrite in 2012.

ProVerb was the technical producer of the Fresh Breakfast show on Y-fm and is now the technical and content producer on the drive-time show on METRO FM, The Avenue 3 to 6 with Glen Lewis and Unathi. He also hosts his own show, The Pro-File, on Saturdays and Sundays on METRO FM.

ProVerb was invited to be a part of the South African delegation that attended the Global Hip Hop Summit, in Spain and Johannesburg in 2004 and 2005 respectively. In May 2005, the premier of the Northern Cape Province appointed ProVerb as an Ambassador of Health for the province. He was one of the celebrity contestants on M-Net’s Survivor South Africa: Santa Carolina, in 2010.

ProVerb was a radio host of Kaya FM Top 40 and currently a host of a Khaya FM show called The Winner’s Circle.
