Kenneth Nkosi, full name Kenneth Mncedisi Nkosi, (born 19 June 1973, South African), actor, producer and comedian known for playing the role of Jaros on Mzansi Magic soapie drama The Queen.

Who is Kenneth Nkosi?

Kenneth Nkosi was born on 19 June 1973, in South Africa. He had his first taste of acting in community theatre. In 1993 he enrolled at the Market Theatre Laboratory in Johannesburg. He made his stage debut two years later in the comedy Afrodizzia at the Johannesburg Civic Theatre.

Career

Kenneth Nkosi has worked on stage at The Civic and at The Market Theatre in a variety of productions and is a member of the South African Sports Company and a field worker for the Market Theatre Laboratory.

He is well known on television for his performances in the soap opera Isidingo and in Saints, Sinners and Settlers and for his appearances on e.tv’s The Toasty Show.

His film credits include Fela’s TV, Tsotsi, Jerusalema, Mafrika, White Wedding and the international box office hit District 9.

He also co-produced the sitcom Mzee wa Two Six, with Endemol.

In 2010 he was the host of the SABC2 World Cup show Siyaya 2010. He was the host of the the SABC1 reality competition television series Class Act, from 2010-2011.

In 2011 he was one of the featured celebrities interviewed by Nicky Greenwall in The Close Up, which aired on e.tv and DStv’s eNews channel.

He also had a starring role as bumbling private investigator Boomba in the Mzansi Magic comedy series Boomba and TT, in 2012.

In 2013 he began hosting the Mzansi Magic and Mzansi Wethu game show Wang Verstana, which tests how well engaged couples know each other.

In 2014 he was the host of the e.tv reality competition series SA’s Kitchen Queens, in which six women – with the aid of celebrity mentors – face off each week in challenges for a grand prize, whilst being equipped with skills such as negotiating, budgeting and cooking.

In July 2020, along with Rapulana Seiphemo, he joined The Queen – potraying the role of “Jaros”.

As an actor, Kenneth Nkosi has received a number of awards in different categories including South African Film and Television Awards Golden Horn Award for Best Actor (2010) in White Wedding and Africa Movie Award (Best Actor).

He has also received several nominations which includes Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (2016) in Ayanda South African Film and Television Awards for Best Supporting Actor (2016) in Ayanda and The Mechanic among others.
