Matric results are just around the corner, and students across South Africa are eager to find out how they performed in the 2024 National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams. Whether you prefer to visit your school, check online, or receive your results directly on your phone, there are several convenient ways to access your results on 14 January 2025. Here’s everything you need to know:

1. Your School or Exam Centre

For many students, the traditional route of collecting results from their school or exam centre is still the most popular choice.

  • When to collect: Starting at 8:00 AM on 14 January 2025, you can visit your school or exam centre to collect your official statement of results.
  • Western Cape: If you’re in the Western Cape, please note that results will only be available for collection from 10:00 AM.

This is the easiest and most direct way to get your results, so be sure to arrive early to avoid long lines.

2. Department of Basic Education Website

If you prefer the convenience of online access, the Department of Basic Education (DBE) will publish the official matric results on their website.

  • When to access: Results will be available on the DBE website from 6:00 AM on 14 January 2025.
  • How to access: To check your results, visit the official DBE website at www.education.gov.za. You’ll need your exam number to log in and view your results.

This option is ideal for those who want to access their results from the comfort of their home or on the go.

3. Receive Your Results via SMS or USSD

For students who may not have access to the internet or who prefer to receive their results directly on their phone, the DBE offers two mobile options: SMS and USSD.

How to Receive Your Results via SMS:

  • Step 1: Send your exam number to 35658.
  • Step 2: You will receive SMS reminders and further instructions.
  • Cost: Each SMS costs R1.50. Please note that free SMS bundles do not apply.

How to Access Results via USSD:

  • Step 1: Dial *120*35658# on your phone.
  • Step 2: Follow the prompts to register and access your results.
  • Cost: USSD usage costs 50c per 20 seconds, and free airtime does not apply.

This service is available to students who wrote the National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams, but please note that this service is not available for IEB (Independent Examinations Board) students.

Important Reminder

It’s crucial to remember that this SMS and USSD service is only for NSC candidates. If you wrote your exams under the Independent Examinations Board (IEB), you will need to use other methods (such as your school or the IEB’s official channels) to access your results.

In Summary:

  • Visit your school/exam centre for official results starting at 8:00 AM (Western Cape at 10:00 AM).
  • Check online at www.education.gov.za from 6:00 AM.
  • Get results via SMS or USSD by registering in advance with your exam number.

Whichever method you choose, make sure you check your results as soon as they’re available. Best of luck to all the matric candidates — we hope the hard work pays off!

For more information, you can visit the DBE’s official results page.
