The Wells Mountain Initiative (WMI) is inviting students from South Africa to apply for the Scholarship for the 2025 academic year.

The Wells Mountain Initiative (WMI) Scholarship is an excellent opportunity for students from developing countries who wish to pursue their first undergraduate degree (Certificate, Diploma, or Bachelor’s). The scholarship provides financial assistance to cover tuition fees, accommodation, books, meals, and transportation. It is awarded to 80-100 students annually, with an average value of $1,500 USD, and sometimes up to $3,000 USD.

- Eligibility Requirements:
- You must be from a developing country (including South Africa).
- You should be under 35 years old on 1 August 2025.
- You must have completed or be completing secondary school (Matric) with excellent results.
- You must be applying for or already studying towards your first undergraduate degree.
- The scholarship is only for students studying in developing countries (excluding the U.S., Canada, Australia, the UK, and Western Europe).
- You must have previous volunteer service and be committed to continuing community engagement.
- You must have some funding but need financial assistance to attend university.

- Complete the online application on the Wells Mountain Initiative website.
- Submit required documents:
- National ID
- Academic transcripts
- Exam results (if applicable)
- Headshot photograph
- University tuition fee structure
- 2 recommendation letters
- Personal statement (500-1000 words)
- Essay (500-1000 words) on a community service project you would undertake if awarded $1,500 (including a budget).
- Selection Process:
- The selection will take place between April and July 2025.
- Successful applicants will be notified by 1 August 2025.
- First scholarship payments will be made in September 2025.
- Commitments for Awardees:
- Maintain good academic results.
- Complete 100 hours of community service each year.
- Submit semester reports and community service updates.
- Act as ambassadors for community service.
