University of the Free State (UFS) Postdoctoral Research Fellowships 2024 / 2025

The University of the Free State (UFS) is excited to announce the availability of five Postdoctoral Research Fellowships in the Department of Pharmacology for 2024.

Location: Bloemfontein Campus, South Africa

Closing Date for Applications: 30 September 2024

This is a unique opportunity for qualified candidates to engage in innovative research in the fields of ethnopharmacology, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, and molecular pharmacology.

Fellowship Details

  • Contract Type: Contract
  • Commencement Date: 1 November 2024 or as soon as possible

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be expected to:

  • Conduct innovative research in pharmacology, including ethnopharmacology and drug discovery.
  • Author or co-author at least three publications annually in accredited scholarly journals.
  • Initiate research projects and seek funding opportunities.
  • Participate in teaching and training of postgraduate students in pharmacology.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to all South African and international candidates.
  • Must have graduated with a PhD in a relevant discipline within the last five years.
  • Must be available for full-time research and able to relocate to UFS.
  • Cannot hold full-time salaried employment during the fellowship.

Fellowship Value

  • Annual stipend: R300,000
  • Additional research expenses fund: R30,000
