Unisa is hiring Independent Contractor (Markers)

University of South Africa (Unisa) is inviting suitable candidates to apply for the position of Independent Contractors (Markers) to provide assessment services.

This role is crucial in supporting the assessment strategy aligned with the UNISA Curriculum Policy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Complete and execute assessment tasks professionally.
• Adhere to UNISA’s tuition, assessment, examination, and plagiarism policies.
• Mark assessments fairly and consistently.
• Meet deadlines for assigned tasks.
• Attend marker meetings and submit marking reports promptly.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding assessment tasks.

Requirements:

• Relevant qualification equivalent to NQF Level 9 (MINF) or NQF Level 10 (PhD) in Information Science, including specializations such as user education, knowledge management, ICT in libraries, and records management.
• Minimum of 3 years industry experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Understanding of assessment practices and procedures.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Digital literacy and proficiency in online marking tools (experience with Moodle is advantageous).

Recommendations:

• Must have personal computer/laptop and reliable internet access (no provision of equipment).
• Advanced English communication skills.
• Friendly, patient, and sensitive to a diverse student body.
