The University of South Africa (UNISA) seeks Independent Contractors to facilitate learning through hybrid tutorials (face-to-face and/or MS Teams) for 2025. Positions are available at various regional centers and involve conducting tutorials during evenings and/or Saturdays.
Available Regional Centres:
- KZN Region: Richards Bay, Durban, Pietermaritzburg, Wild Coast, Newcastle
- Gauteng Region: Johannesburg, Vaal, Ekurhuleni, Pretoria, Florida
- Northern Region: Polokwane, Makhado, Nelspruit, Middelburg, Giyani
- Western Cape Region: Parow, George
- Eastern Cape Region: East London, Mthatha, Gqeberha
- Midlands Region: Bloemfontein, Kroonstad, Mahikeng, Rustenburg, Kimberley, Potchefstroom
Closing Date: 22 November 2024
General Requirements:
- Attend mandatory training provided by UNISA.
- Not currently employed as a UNISA Fixed Term contractor or permanent staff member.
- Hold a Master’s degree in the field of Accountancy, an MBA/MBL with an Honours degree/Postgraduate Diploma in Accountancy, or be a CA(SA).
- Advanced communication skills in English.
- Passion for student-centred learning and commitment to deadlines.
- Available on weekdays (16:00 – 20:00) and Saturdays (8:00 – 13:00).
- Proficiency in facilitating online classes using MS Teams.
Duties:
- Facilitate tutoring sessions in a hybrid format.
- Prepare for tutorials using both in-person and MS Teams methods.
- Ensure effective learning experiences.
- Provide feedback to the teaching team as needed.
Recommendations:
- Experience in online teaching/tutoring.
- Ability to support students with diverse learning needs.
- Own computer and reliable internet access.
Key Notes for Independent Contractors:
- Contractors are not considered UNISA employees.
- No entitlement to benefits such as medical aid, office space, equipment, or leave.
- Maximum work allocation is 15 hours per module per semester or 30 hours for year-long modules.
- Potential appointment for up to three modules.
- Contract period is for the 2025 calendar year.
- Hourly remuneration: R431.60.
