Umgeni Water: Engineering Internships 2017 in KZN
Applications are invited for the positions, Civil / Mechanical / Electrical / Chemical Engineering – x20, stationed in the Engineering and Scientific Services, and Operations Divisions in both Ulwandle and Izintaba Regions of Umgeni Water. Umgeni Water will provide the recent graduates with experiential training that will result in the development of their technical knowledge leading to their registration as professional engineers and technologists with the respective professional bodies.
On completion of the training programme trainees will be required to apply the knowledge and skills learned to above-mentioned Municipalities in KwaZulu Natal as identified by Umgeni Water and National Treasury. Trainees will be trained by Umgeni Water for the duration of the contract and will also be deployed to the identified Municipalities on completion of the training.

Key Responsibilities
During the training, graduates will be expected to successfully demonstrate all proficiencies as determined by ECSA for the graduate development programme in their respective disciplines.
Requirements:
- Minimum Qualifications for Technologist and Technicians: – B. Tech. and National Diploma in Civil/ Mechanical / Electrical and Chemical Engineering.
- An unendorsed Code 08/EB Driver’s license is a requirement.
Skills and Knowledge
We are looking for a results-driven person, a team player who is customer focused *has knowledge of engineering principles and has an ability to apply this knowledge * an ability to communicate well at all levels * an ability to plan and organize workloads effectively to enhance performance.
Please Note
First preference will be given to applicants who are permanent residence of the identified municipalities. The programme is restricted to South African citizens. Appointment will also be made in the context of Employment Equity. Graduates who have undergone any form of training in the past i.e. internship / in-service training / graduate programme will not be eligible to apply.
Short-listed applicants may be subjected to competency assessment / or security clearance and will be required to produce original certificate. This programme does not give guarantee of a permanent placement.
