Ubuhlebezwe Municipality Fire Fighter Trainee Programme 2024
The Ubuhlebezwe Municipality in the Harry Gwala District, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, is offering an opportunity for individuals to apply for the 2024 Fire Fighter Trainee Programme.
Programme Details:
- Duration: 18 Months (Fixed Term Contract)
- Stipend: R5000.00 per Month
- Benefits: No municipal benefits will apply (pension, medical aid, etc.), applicants are required to make their arrangements.
About Ubuhlebezwe Municipality:
The Municipality, whose name translates to “the beauty of the land” in isiZulu, is located within the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. It is derived from Alan Paton’s novel, Cry, The Beloved Country.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Fire Fighter I and II Certificates
- Hazmat Awareness & Operations
- Valid First Aid Level III or BAAA
- Medical Certificate of fitness
- Disaster Management Qualification (added advantage)
- Physically fit and able-bodied
- Expected to undergo a fitness test
- Ability to communicate in English and Isizulu
- No Criminal record or pending cases
- Must not exceed 35 years of age
- Code C1 driver’s license
Key Performance Areas:
- Responding immediately to fire station bells for fire incidents
- Attending emergency medical and hazardous substances incidents
- Ensuring compliance with legislative and Council policies/procedures/standards
- Performing rescue, emergency/disaster operations, and administrative duties
- Maintaining and testing fire-fighting and medical equipment
- Conducting fire safety inspections
