ABOUT TRANSNET
Transnet SOC Ltd is a large South African rail, port and pipeline company, headquartered in the Carlton Centre in Johannesburg. It was formed as a limited company on 1 April 1990.
A majority of the company’s stock is owned by the Department of Public Enterprises, or DPE, of the South African government.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Must be able to communicate (verbal and writing) in English at all levels.
- Must have a minimum of Grade 9 with minimum 3 months relevant experience.
- Must have a valid Flagmen certificate.
- Must be keen to develop and improve knowledge and qualifications.
- Physical Fit( Undergo medical examination and be declared fit for duty)
- Must be able to fill in daily reports.
- Maintain a safe and harmonious working relationship with team.
- Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Must be prepared to work extended hours during Emergency Work.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Assist with basic maintenance and testing of flagmen equipment.
- Be prepared to learn the usage of relevant equipment,
- Be health and safety conscious.
- Report any deviances and misconduct to the Supervisor.
- Be accountable for meeting the set target objectives set out by the supervisor.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work is normally performed in a typical exterior work environment.
- Work can be performed within in an operational area.
- Work can be performed during occupations or shuts outside “normal” working hours.
- Be prepared to work in adverse weather conditions.
- Be willing to work away from home/depot.
