Thembisile Hani Local Municipality (THLM) Bursaries 2025

The Thembisile Hani Local Municipality (THLM) invites eligible South African students to submit applications for the Bursary Programme for the academic year 2025.

Bursary application closing date is 22 November 2024.

The Thembisile Hani Local Municipality (THLM) Bursary Programme is offering financial support to students residing within the Thembisile Local Municipality (Mpumalanga) for undergraduate studies in any field. This bursary is intended to assist students with their registration fees, and is part of the municipality’s socio-economic development initiatives.

Bursary Details

  • Bursary Coverage: The bursary will only cover registration fees at an accredited institution.
  • Fields of Study: The bursary is open to all undergraduate qualifications in any field of study.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the THLM Bursary, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. South African Citizenship: You must be a South African citizen.
  2. Residency: You must reside within the Thembisile Local Municipality area, Mpumalanga.
  3. Matric Status: You must be either currently in Matric or have already completed Matric.
  4. Historically Disadvantaged Community: Preference will be given to applicants from historically disadvantaged communities.
  5. Household Income: The total household income should not exceed R350,000 per annum.
  6. Field of Study: You must be studying or planning to study towards an undergraduate qualification in any field of study.
  7. Institution: You must be enrolled at a recognized and accredited public institution in South Africa (University, University of Technology, or TVET College).
  8. Academic Performance: You must have achieved a minimum of 60% in your most recent studies:
    • Matriculants: 3rd term results for Matric.
    • Current students: 2nd semester results for 2024.

How to Apply

  1. Download the Application Form: Download the application form for the 2025 Thembisile Hani Local Municipality Bursary here.
    • Alternatively, you can collect the form at the THLM Mthombomuhle (Kwaggafontein) Offices (old and new building receptions).
  2. Complete the Application: Fill out the application form with accurate details.
  3. Submit Supporting Documents: The following documents must be submitted with your application (ensure all documents are certified copies):
    • ID Document (certified copy)
    • Grade 11 final results and Matric latest results (if currently in Matric) (certified copy)
    • Matric certificate (if completed Matric) (certified copy)
    • Most recent academic record (on the institution’s letterhead)
    • Proof of acceptance at a tertiary institution (on the institution’s letterhead)
    • Parents or guardians’ ID documents (certified copies)
    • Parents or guardians’ proof of household income (latest payslips, affidavit if unemployed, proof of pension/grant, etc.)
    • Proof of address (certified copy)
  4. Submit the Application: Applications must be hand-delivered to the following address:

    • Stand No. 24, Opposite Kwaggafontein Police Station,
      Empumalanga, 0458
    • Ensure that your application is placed in a sealed envelope marked “Applications for 2025 Bursary” and submitted at the main entrance recruitment box.

Closing Date

The closing date for applications is 22 November 2024 at 12:00. Late applications will not be accepted, so ensure you submit your application before the deadline.

  • Shortlisting: Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
  • Contractual Agreement: Successful applicants will be required to sign a contractual agreement with the THLM.
