The South African Association for Food Science and Technology (SAAFoST): Bursaries 2024

The South African Association for Food Science and Technology (SAAFoST) is welcoming applications from South African students for the Bursary Programme for the academic year 2024.

The South African Association for Food Science and Technology (SAAFoST) offers bursaries in the field of Food Science and Technology. There are three types of bursaries available:

  1. SAAFoST Matriculant Bursary: This bursary is for students currently in Matric (Grade 12) who plan to study full-time towards their first undergraduate Degree or Diploma in the Food Science and Technology field.
  2. SAAFoST Undergraduate Bursary: This bursary is for students pursuing full-time undergraduate studies in Food Science and Technology.
  3. SAAFoST Part-Time Bursary for SAAFoST Members: This bursary is for SAAFoST paid-up full members who are studying part-time towards a BSc Hons or BTech qualification in the Food Science and Technology field.

About the SAAFoST Matriculant Bursary: The SAAFoST Matriculant Bursary is awarded based on academic merit, employment equity, and demonstrated potential. It covers tuition fees only, up to a maximum of R40,000 per annum. The bursary is paid directly to the tertiary institution in two installments, with the second installment dependent on satisfactory first-semester results. It is renewable each year, provided the student completes their studies within the prescribed time (up to 4 years for Diploma studies, up to 4 years for undergraduate degree studies, and up to 5 years for BTech degree studies).

To apply for the SAAFoST Matriculant Bursary, complete the application form available in PDF or DOC format. Specify “StudentRoom” as your source of information. Submit clear copies of the required supporting documents along with your application form. These documents include your ID document or passport, passport-sized photo, Grade 11 final results, Matric latest results, a personal statement, and a reference letter.
