Position Overview

As a Technician in the RN-COR-WES-SUP-Maintenance Control-PTH department at Transnet Freight Rail, you will play a crucial role in supporting maintenance control activities and driving improvements in operational performance. This is a dynamic role where you will contribute to infrastructure maintenance projects and process improvement initiatives, ensuring optimal service delivery and performance for Transnet’s rail network.

Key Responsibilities

As a Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating Process Improvement Initiatives: Driving continuous improvement within maintenance and operational processes, enhancing productivity and efficiency.
  • Infrastructure Maintenance: Providing support for infrastructure maintenance management, ensuring that systems, tools, and procedures are aligned with best practices.
  • Project Analysis and Implementation: Analyzing projects related to Transnet Freight Rail’s operations, identifying opportunities to improve performance, and supporting the implementation of key operational projects.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Writing reports and maintaining accurate records related to project progress, issues, and outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following qualifications and experience criteria:

  • National Diploma in Industrial Engineering (or a related technical field).
  • 2 years of experience in infrastructure maintenance or continuous improvement and project management environments.
  • Proven track record in successfully implementing key operational projects with a direct impact on performance.
  • Code B Driver’s License: Must be competent to drive such a vehicle, enabling you to travel to different locations and perform maintenance-related tasks as required.
