Key Responsibilities:
As part of the Data Science Graduate Programme, you will have the chance to work across several key areas:
Client:
- Support business integration by incorporating model outputs into production systems, ensuring they meet business requirements and best practices.
Data:
- Assist in gathering and preparing data for use in models, ensuring it aligns with the organization’s goals.
- Perform data preprocessing tasks such as manipulation, transformation, normalisation, visualisation, and deriving new features/variables.
- Use advanced data analytics to assess data validity, ensure accuracy, and present insights to stakeholders.
- Develop statistical models and algorithms to address critical business questions and create predictive solutions.
- Cleanse and verify the integrity of data used in analysis, utilizing profiling and visualisation techniques.
People:
- Collaborate with the Data Science Guild and various subject matter experts to select relevant data sources, translate business requirements into data outcomes, and share findings to develop recommendations.
Product:
- Use mathematical, statistical, and simulation techniques to answer key business questions.
- Develop predictive models to forecast outcomes and ensure effective resource planning.
- Support the implementation of automation software to maintain accurate and sustainable solutions.
Technology & Architecture:
- Assist in building machine learning models and leverage distributed data processing methodologies.
- Be proficient in Machine Learning programming using languages like R or Python, and familiar with tools like Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka.
Qualifications & Requirements:
To be eligible for the Data Science Graduate Programme, you must meet the following criteria:
- Completed or currently enrolled in an Honours or Master’s degree in one of the following fields:
- Data Science
- Statistics
- Computer Science
- Applied Mathematics
- Quantitative Risk Management
- Engineering (Computer, Industrial, Chemical, Electronic, Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronic)
- Minimum requirements:
- You must be a South African citizen.
- If you have work experience, it should not exceed 24 months.
- Full academic transcripts for both undergraduate and postgraduate studies should be submitted with your application.
