Position Overview
Sasol is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Process Implementation role in their Mining Operations. This role is essential to ensure the efficient mining activities at Sasol’s various mines in Secunda. You will be responsible for managing a mining crew, ensuring safety standards, driving operational performance, and helping build the competencies of your team. This role is crucial for maintaining the high operational standards Sasol is known for.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Shift Boss or Relieving Shift Boss, your key responsibilities will include:
- Crew Management: Lead and supervise a mining crew to meet daily production targets.
- Safety Oversight: Ensure that health, safety, and environmental regulations are followed on the section.
- Team Development: Identify and address training and development needs for crew members to improve performance.
- Operational Excellence: Manage more complex mining activities and oversee operational reports to improve mining processes.
- Statutory Compliance: Perform regular statutory inspections (e.g., gas & ventilation tests, risk assessments, and safety drills).
- Shift Coordination: Represent the shift boss in operational meetings, ensuring smooth work transitions between shifts.
- Resource Management: Ensure the section has all necessary materials for mining operations and manage SAP inputs for attendance and orders.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
To qualify for this role, you need the following:
- Educational Qualifications:
- National Senior Certificate or Full N3 (with Maths and English/Business English).
- Valid Blasting Certificate (for Fiery Mines).
- Valid First Aid Certificate.
- Valid Red Ticket or ability to obtain one.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Gas Testing Certificate (8 gases).
- Competent A certification.
- Experience:
- At least 2+ years of relevant underground coal mining experience.
- Familiarity with mining equipment, risk management, and SHE (Safety, Health, and Environmental) policies.
- Professional Memberships: Certification in Blasting, Gas Testing, and Flameproof is an advantage.
