Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone (RBIDZ): Bursary 2021 / 2022

Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone (RBIDZ) invites student to apply for Bursary Programme 2021 academic year.

The Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone Company is inviting students from the King Cetshwayo District, in KwaZulu-Natal, to apply for a bursary award. Bursaries are available for exceptional learners through RBIDZ’s Study Assistance programme.

Bursaries will be awarded to candidates interested in studying at a recognised university in one of the following disciplines (undergraduate only):

  • Accounting
  • Actuarial Science
  • Agricultural Economics and Extension (BSc Agriculture Economics, ND Agriculture Economics/Extension, BSc Agriculture Engineering)
  • Agricultural & Built Environment (B Architectural Studies, BSc Construction Studies, BSc Property Development, N Dip Architectural Technology, N Dip Town & Regional Planning)
  • Chemical Engineering (BSc Eng or N Dip)
  • Civil Engineering (BSc Eng or N Dip)
  • Mechanical Engineering (BSc Eng or N Dip)
  • Economics & Finance (B Com Economics, B Com Accounting, N Dip Internal Auditing, N Dip Business Management)
  • Electrical Engineering (BSc Eng or N Dip)
  • Electronics Engineering (BSc Eng or N Dip)
  • Information Technology (B Com Information Management Systems, BSc Computer Science, N Dip Information Technology)
  • Marine Engineering (N Dip)
  • Mechatronics Engineering
  • Metallurgical Engineering (BSc Eng Metallurgy and Materials)
  • Geographic Information System (GIS) (BSc. Land Surveying or BSc Quantity Surveying)

Successful candidates will be selected based on 2 main criteria: academic merit and financial need. Students may also be selected for an assessment programme, depending on their performance.

The candidates acceptance into the bursary programme will be determined by the success of their interview; the bursary is also renewable annually based on the recipients conduct and academic performance.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by 30 June 2021 at the latest – if you do not receive any feedback by this date, please consider your application unsuccessful.
 

Requirements

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must reside within the King Cetshwayo District, KwaZulu-Natal
  • You must have completed Matric
  • You must be accepted to study at a University or University of Technology in South Africa
  • You must be accepted to study full-time within one of the aforementioned fields of study
  • You must have achieved a minimum of level 5 for English in Matric
  • You must have achieved a minimum of level 5 for Mathematics (Core) in Matric
  • You must have achieved a minimum of level 5 for Life Science in Matric
  • You must have achieved a minimum of level 5 for Physical Science in Matric
  • You must have achieved a minimum of level 5 for Accounting in Matric
  • You must have achieved a minimum of level 5 for Economics in Matric
  • You must be from a from previously disadvantaged background

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate (certified copy)
  • Acceptance letter from a University or University of Technology (on tertiary letterhead)
  • Parents/ guardians proof of income (3 months payslips if employed, affidavit if unemployment, SASSA grant income or pension if applicable)
  • Reference letter from a teacher or community leader
  • Motivational letter stating why you want to study at your selected University or University of Technology, what you intend on studying and your career aspirations
  • Proof of residence in King Cetshwayo District
