About the Apprenticeship
The apprenticeship programme will include:
- Institutionalised training at an Industrial Training Centre (± 20 weeks)
- On-the-job exposure and training in different sections of the factory (± 29 weeks)
- Mini Trade Test (Phase Test) after each year
- Final Trade Test to gain a nationally recognised qualification
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Minimum N3 qualification
(N4 – N6 is advantageous) - Subjects required for N3:
- Mathematics
- Engineering Science
- Industrial Electronics
- Electrical Trade Theory / Electrical Technology / Electrotechnology
- Fitting and Machining / Mechanical Technology / Mechanotechnology
- Formal Institutionalised Training Certificate
- Knowledge of Safety, Health & Environmental standards
- Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment
Additional Requirements
- Valid EB / Code 8 Driver’s License
- Computer literacy (MS Office Suite)
- Willingness to:
- Work shifts
- Be on standby and respond to callouts
- Work overtime
- Work at heights and in confined spaces
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct equipment inspections to prevent breakdowns
- Follow maintenance processes and complete accurate work orders
- Inspect and repair drives, motors, belts, bearings, etc.
- Clean and lubricate machinery
- Replace filters and conduct routine maintenance tasks
