Potatoes South Africa (PSA) is welcoming applications from South African students for the Bursary Programme for the academic year 2024.

About the Potatoes SA Bursary Programme:
Potatoes South Africa (PSA) is offering bursary opportunities to students for the 2024 academic year. The bursaries will be awarded for studies in the following fields:
- Undergraduate studies: Agricultural fields (Agriculture Production, Agronomy, Plant Production, Soil Science)
- Postgraduate studies: Honours, Masters, or PhD with a Potato Related Topic
If you are interested in pursuing a career in agriculture or have a research interest related to potatoes, this bursary may be the perfect opportunity for you.
Additional Opportunities and Selection:
Successful applicants will have the chance to participate in an internship and workplace experience program, which will help enhance their skills and open up employment opportunities. Upon completing their studies, bursary recipients will be required to work for an organization, company, or institution related to the potato industry for a period equivalent to their bursary award.
Eligibility Requirements for the Potatoes SA Bursary:
Before applying for the Potatoes SA Bursary, make sure you meet the following minimum entry criteria:
For Undergraduate Students:
- You must be a South African citizen.
- You must have completed Matric (Grade 12).
- You must be studying full-time towards an undergraduate qualification in one of the Agricultural fields mentioned above.
- You must be entering your 2nd year or a higher year of study.
- You must be enrolled at a recognized and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa.
- You must have a strong academic record.
For Postgraduate Students (Honours, Masters, or PhD):
- You must be a South African citizen.
- You must have completed Matric (Grade 12).
- You must be studying full-time towards an Honours, Masters, or PhD qualification with a topic related to potatoes.
- You must be enrolled at a recognized and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa.
- You must have a strong academic record.

- Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (ensure all items are included to avoid disqualification):
For Undergraduate Students:
- ID document (certified copy)
- Qualification certificates (certified copies)
- Latest academic transcripts/records (on institution’s letterhead)
- Admission letter from your tertiary institution (on institution’s letterhead)
- Any additional documents relevant to your application
For Postgraduate Students (Honours, Masters, or PhD):
- ID document (certified copy)
- Qualification certificates (certified copies)
- Latest academic transcripts/records (on institution’s letterhead)
- Academic reports of all Degrees or Diplomas completed (on institution’s letterhead)
- Admission letter from your tertiary institution (on institution’s letterhead)
- Colour photograph (full length)
- Masters and PhD students: progress report/recommendation letter from a supervisor
- Any additional documents relevant to your application
- Email your completed application and supporting documents to the Bursary Department at: bursaries1@potatoes.co.za. In the email subject line, please include “Potatoes SA Bursary” and specify whether you are applying for “Undergraduate” or “Postgraduate.”
Application Deadline: Shortlisted applicants will be contacted by no later than 28 February 2024. If you do not receive any feedback by this date, please consider your application unsuccessful.
