Selection Criteria

  1. Academic Excellence: Strong academic performance is a key consideration.
  2. Financial Need: Applicants must demonstrate financial need, based on combined annual household income.
  3. Bursary Renewal: Renewed annually depending on academic results.
  4. Shortlisted Candidates: Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted for interviews, and the Trustees’ decisions are final.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be South African citizens
  • Permanently reside in the Ekurhuleni metropolitan area, Gauteng
  • Be studying or plan to study full-time towards an undergraduate qualification (Medicine is not funded)
  • Be accepted or enrolled at an accredited tertiary institution in Gauteng
  • Ensure their study program lasts at least one year

Ensure you submit these certified and clear documents with your application:

  • ID document
  • Grade 11 results and Matric June 2024 report (if currently in Matric) or Matric/NSC results (if Matric is complete)
  • Full academic record with the latest results (if currently studying)
  • Proof of residence in Ekurhuleni (e.g., a utilities account)
  • Parents or guardians’ proof of income (latest salary/wage slips, or affidavits if unemployed or self-employed, or death certificates if parents/guardians are deceased)
