NRF-SAASTA Graduate Internships 2025: Apply Now for 200 Positions

The National Research Foundation’s South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement (NRF-SAASTA), on behalf of the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI), is inviting unemployed graduates aged 18 to 35 to apply for the DSTI-National Youth Service (NYS) Programme.

Closing Date: 31 January 2025

Location: Pretoria, Gauteng

This exciting initiative offers approximately 200 graduates a 12-month volunteering opportunity across various participating organizations.


Who Can Apply?

1. Science, Engineering, and Technology Graduates:

  • Graduates will be placed in organizations that promote science engagement, including:
    • Higher education institutions
    • Schools
    • Science centres
    • Science councils
    • Biodiversity conservation sites (e.g., botanical and zoological gardens)
    • Non-profits focused on maths, science, and technology.

2. Communication Science, Journalism, or Media Studies Graduates:

  • Graduates will serve as science knowledge intermediaries at community media outlets, engaging in:
    • Science journalism
    • Media-related activities focused on science and technology.

Stipend Details:

The programme offers monthly stipends based on your qualification level:

  • National Diploma (NQF Level 6): R4,500
  • Bachelor’s Degree / B. Tech (NQF Level 7): R5,000
  • Honours (NQF Level 8): R5,500
  • Master’s (NQF Level 9): R6,500
  • PhD (NQF Level 10): R7,700

  2. A CV (Curriculum Vitae).
  3. Certified copies of ID, qualifications, or academic transcripts.
