LOCATION

The above-mentioned position is currently available in the OD department of MMI based at our office in Centurion but we will consider Cape Town based applications as well.

POSITION PURPOSE

The purpose of the 12 month internship program is to provide our MMI interns with an in-depth understanding of the field of Industrial Psychology/Organisational Development through the practical application of theoretical knowledge. The intern will be supervised by a registered Industrial Psychologist within MMI. The University of choice from the intern will act as the supervising university of the internship.
While most of the programme will be guided by pre-determined activities, a period will be set aside for research purposes as well as other project work during the internship period. MMI would like to use the internship as an opportunity to upskill unemployed graduates to equip them for roles within the broader MMI environment. The successful placement of the graduates will further impact positively on our BBBEE score.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Honours: Industrial psychology with subjects to give assessment feedback
1st year Master’s Degree in Industrial Psychology completed 2015 preferred
Registered with the HPCSA as a student or Intern psychologist preferred
SA Citizen
Completion of research thesis would be an advantage.

THE INCUMBENT WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

Key duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following; this is a summary of the fully aligned program in line with HPCSA guidelines:
1 Talent Management – 30%
1.1 Understanding the MMI business through the Talent lenses
1.2 Collating information Compiling Talent reports
1.3 Ensuring processes align and are implemented in alignment to the strategic framework
1.4 Talent Assessments administering and interpreting.
1.5 Career Management: Conduct talent conversation scripts and career development interviews with internal employees of MMI, Conduct career counselling sessions & Provide feedback to employees regarding their assessment results.

2 Assessments: – 20%
2.1 Determine the purpose of assessments within the organisation and design the assessment process consistent with the requirements outlined by the HPCSA. Design the assessment battery for various roles in the organisation based on the required competencies and requirements. Administer the various classified psychometric tests/tools
2.2 Psychometric Assessments and Testing Active design, participation, scoring and report writing Score the administered tests: Participate in the interpretation and report writing of psychometric tests results consistent with the requirements of the position and the purpose of the assessment. Conduct in-depth feedback with various stakeholders including managers and employees
2.3 Psychometric Regulations and Best practices understand and apply governing guidelines and legislation pertaining to psychometric testing
2.4 Group behaviour: Facilitate a team sessions using assessments to give feedback .

    COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

Good computer literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft Office software;

  • Practical exposure to the various functional sections will allow the intern the opportunity to acquire workable knowledge and a level of competence to the extent that the individual could eventually assume responsibilities in the OD world. Assigned activities will be critically evaluated in terms of present Industrial and Organisational Psychology techniques, towards improving existing procedures and functions.
