The Limpopo Department of Health has opened applications for Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) General Worker positions across all districts in the province. This is a golden opportunity for unemployed individuals looking to gain practical work experience in the healthcare sector.
A total of 1244 General Worker posts are available on an 11-month contract basis, ending 31 March 2026. Successful candidates will be placed in primary healthcare facilities, hospitals, and vertical programmes throughout Limpopo.
Monthly Stipend: R4,235.00

Who Should Apply?
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- ABET qualification or higher
- Physically fit and able to work long hours
- Willingness to work with bodily fluids, corpses, or cleaning equipment
- Ability to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays
- Basic understanding of occupational health and safety
Knowledge of Batho Pele Principles, waste management, and good communication and customer service skills are also essential.
Available Work Areas
Successful applicants will be placed in various roles depending on the operational needs of the facility:
Porter
- Transport patients and corpses
- Clean and maintain wheelchairs and stretchers
Laundry Aid
- Record and manage soiled and clean linen
- Clean laundry equipment and follow infection control measures
Mortuary Attendant
- Receive, transport, and store corpses
- Maintain cool room, equipment, and perform cleaning duties
Ward Attendant
- Assist with housekeeping, cleaning, and sluice room duties in hospital wards
Cleaner
- Perform cleaning of offices, passages, restrooms, and hospital spaces
Where Will You Be Placed?
Placements will occur across the five districts in Limpopo:
- Capricorn (100+ clinics)
- Sekhukhune
- Vhembe
- Waterberg
- Mopani
Facilities include clinics, hospitals, CHCs, and nursing campuses.
