KwaZulu-Natal Museum Internships 2024

KwaZulu-Natal Museum invites unemployed graduates to apply for Internship Programme 2024 / 2025.

Internship Application Closing Date: 12 July 2024

Internship Location: Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa

The KwaZulu-Natal Museum, a leading heritage institution in South Africa, is dedicated to serving the public by interpreting, collecting, and exhibiting material evidence of the cultural and natural world. This initiative aims to increase knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of the nation’s rich heritage. To drive its strategic objectives and promote skills development among the youth of KwaZulu-Natal, the museum invites applicants for the following two-month internship opportunities:

1. Tour Guide (4 Positions)

  • Stipend: R5,000 per month
  • Requirements: National Diploma/Bachelor Degree in Tourism Management or a related field
  • Duties:
    • Gallery guiding
    • Monitoring security in public spaces
    • Providing information about the museum and displays to the public and schools
    • Participating in other related duties of the department

2. Environmental Management Intern

  • Stipend: R5,000 per month
  • Requirements: National Diploma/Bachelor Degree in Environmental Management or a related field
  • Duties:
    • Conducting environmental education programs
    • Assisting in the planning of educational programs
    • Participating in environmental outreach programs
    • Undertaking other related duties in the department

Closing Date: Friday, 12 July 2024 at 12:00 PM (no late applications will be accepted).

Required Documents:

  • Signed covering letter stating the internship you are applying for
  • CV with a list of references
  • Copies of your identity document, matric certificate, and relevant National Diploma/Bachelor Degree (supporting documents need not be certified, but shortlisted candidates will need to provide certified copies at the interview stage)
  • Proof of residential address indicating residence within the KwaZulu-Natal region

Note: Any false information or misrepresentation in the application will lead to automatic disqualification or removal from the program if discovered at a later stage.

Successful candidates may be placed at different institutions but will remain under the supervision of the museum. No faxed applications will be accepted.
