Hortgro: Bursaries 2025

Hortgro invites South African students to apply for Bursary Programme 2025 academic year.

Bursary Application Closing Date: 15 August 2024

The Hortgro Bursary Programme for the 2025 academic year is now open for applications. The bursaries are aimed at students pursuing studies in various agricultural fields, including Agri-Management, Agricultural Biotechnology, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Science, Entomology, Horticulture, Marketing Specialist, Microbiology, Plant Pathology, Project Management, and Soil and Water Science.

Eligibility Requirements:

• South African citizen
• Completed Matric or currently in Matric
• Studying or intending to study within one of the specified fields in 2025
• Enrolled or registered at a recognized South African tertiary institution
• Meeting the admission requirements for the chosen course

Supporting Documentation:

Shortlisted applicants may need to provide certified copies of:

• ID document or both sides of ID card
• Matric certificate or latest Matric results
• Latest tertiary academic record
• Proof of tertiary registration
• Estimated breakdown of study fees
• Parents/guardians ID documents and proof of income
• Proof of any other financial assistance
• An essay detailing personal information, career plans, future role in agriculture, and reasons for deserving the bursary
• 2 contactable references

Bursary Expectations:

• Quarterly updates to Hortgro on studies and well-being
• Submission of semester results
• Maintenance of good behavior
• Attendance at Hortgro functions

Renewal and Selection:

• The bursary is renewable annually based on academic performance.
• Access to a mentor for motivation and support.
• Final selection by a committee.
