Globeleq Scholarships 2025

Globeleq is inviting students from South Africa to apply for the Scholarship for the 2025 academic year.

Globeleq is offering 4 different scholarship opportunities for 2024/2025. These scholarships cover various fields, including Engineering Sciences, Other Sciences, and opportunities for students residing near renewable energy sites. If you meet the requirements and are passionate about renewable energy, this is a great opportunity to fund your education!

Types of Scholarships Available

  1. Globeleq GSF Engineering Sciences
    This bursary covers studies in:
    • Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering (N3–N6)
    • Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronic Engineering (National Diploma or BTech)
    • Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronic Engineering (BEng or BSc degrees)
  2. Globeleq GSF Other Sciences
    Awarded to students from the Eastern Cape or Northern Cape for studies in:
    • Agriculture
    • Education (Mathematics & Science)
    • Nursing
      (Covers Higher Certificates, Diplomas, Degrees, or equivalent NQF qualifications.)
  3. Globeleq GSF Communities
    Awarded to students living within 50km of specified wind or solar farms for ANY field of study (Degree or Certificate).
  4. Globeleq Education Trust
    Awarded to students living within 50km of specified wind or solar farms for ANY field of study (Degree or Certificate).

Expenses Covered

The scholarship covers the following:

  • Registration fees
  • Tuition fees
  • Books and stationery
  • Accommodation and meals
    Additional academic support may also be provided if approved by the GSF Committee.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Globeleq GSF Engineering Sciences

  • South African citizen
  • Completed Matric
  • Studying full-time toward one of the engineering qualifications listed above
  • Entering the 2nd or higher year of study in 2025 (excluding bridging or extended programs)
  • Studying at a recognized, accredited higher education institution in South Africa
  • Interested in renewable energy
  • Unemployed (not working full-time/part-time in 2025 and haven’t worked full-time before 2025)

2. Globeleq GSF Other Sciences

  • South African citizen
  • Born or residing in the Northern Cape or Eastern Cape
  • Completed Matric
  • Studying toward an Education, Agriculture, or Nursing qualification
  • Entering the 2nd or higher year of study in 2025
  • Studying at a recognized, accredited institution in South Africa
  • Interested in renewable energy
  • Unemployed in 2025 and haven’t worked full-time before 2025

3. Globeleq GSF Communities Scholarship Fund

  • South African citizen
  • Residing within 50km of Aries Solar Power, Boshof Solar Power, De Aar Solar Power, Droogfontein Solar Power, Jeffrey’s Bay Wind Farm, Klipheuwel Wind Farm, Konkoonsies Solar Power, or Soutpan Solar Power
  • Currently in Matric or completed Matric
  • Studying or intending to study full-time in ANY field (Degree/Certificate) in 2025
  • Interested in renewable energy
  • Unemployed in 2025 and haven’t worked full-time before 2025

4. Globeleq Education Trust

  • South African citizen
  • Residing within 50km of Aries Solar Power, Boshof Solar Power, De Aar Solar Power, Droogfontein Solar Power, Jeffrey’s Bay Wind Farm, Klipheuwel Wind Farm, Konkoonsies Solar Power, or Soutpan Solar Power
  • Currently in Matric or completed Matric
  • Studying or intending to study full-time in ANY field (Degree/Certificate) in 2025
  • Interested in renewable energy
  • Unemployed in 2025 and haven’t worked full-time before 2025

Application Process

Applications must be submitted online via: Globeleq Scholarship Applications 2025.

Required Documents

Submit clear certified copies of the following documents with your application:

  1. ID document
  2. Grade 11 final results and Matric results (if currently in Matric)
  3. Proof of provisional university acceptance (if applicable)
  4. Matric certificate (if completed)
  5. Latest academic transcript (if already studying)
  6. Proof of university registration
  7. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  8. A statement explaining your study choice and future plans (1 page)
  9. A recommendation letter from someone familiar with your character or academic performance
  10. Proof of household income (parents/guardians)
  11. For students under 18: Consent form signed by your parent/guardian
  12. For students under 18: Parent/guardian ID documents

Work-back Agreement

Recipients of the Globeleq Engineering Scholarship will be required to enter into a work-back agreement after graduation.

Important Notes

  • All applicants will receive confirmation of their application via email.
  • Shortlisted applicants will be invited for interviews, and assessments may be conducted.
  • Criminal and credit checks may be performed on successful candidates.
