FlySafair, one of South Africa’s leading low-cost carriers, is currently looking to expand its Flight Deck Crew with the addition of 24 First Officers.

About the Role

As a First Officer at FlySafair, you will play a pivotal role in the safe and efficient operation of flights. Reporting directly to the Fleet Captain, your responsibilities will include a mix of pre-flight preparation, in-flight operations, and post-flight duties, ensuring that each flight is conducted safely and in accordance with company and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Pre-Flight: Ensure you are well-prepared for each flight by reviewing the planned route, weather conditions, and other operational documentation. Collaborate with the Captain to assess fuel needs, alternate routes, and any restrictions or special considerations.
• In-Flight: Monitor the aircraft’s systems, flight path, and instruments, ensuring the safe operation of the flight. You will be responsible for executing or monitoring the completion of all normal, abnormal, and emergency checklists, keeping a close eye on safety at all times.
• Post-Flight: Complete all required post-flight procedures, ensuring proper documentation is submitted and any reports (e.g., IQSMS) are filed correctly.

Additionally, in the event of the incapacitation of the Captain, you will assume command and ensure the safe continuation of the flight. FlySafair emphasizes the importance of teamwork, so you’ll be expected to assist the Captain in crew management and the upkeep of operational discipline.

Who We Are Looking For:

FlySafair is seeking candidates who meet the following qualifications and personal attributes:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• SACAA Commercial Pilot License (Essential)
• Class 1 SACAA Medical Certificate (Essential)
• 1500+ flight hours, including at least 500 hours on Multi-Turbine aircraft (Essential)
• Multi-crew experience (Essential)
• SACAA ATPL (Preferred)
• Type rated on Boeing aircraft (Advantageous)
• Experience on Commercial Jets over 20 tons (Advantageous)
