The Eastern Cape Department of Education hereby invite all suitable applicants to apply for bursaries as per the following categories (BEd):
- GET
Post Level 1: Bed, PGCE, Honours, Masters (Maths, Science, Accounting, Economics, Foundation Phase, Inclusive Education, Language Teaching & ICT) – 1-4 Years
SMT Level: Post Graduate Studies (Monitoring & Evaluation, Research Technology & Innovation, Public Management, BCom, Labour Law, Project Management) – 1-2 Years
Principals: Post Graduate Studies (Management, Leadership and Development, Project Management) – 1-2 Years
- Intersen-FET
Post Level 1: Bed, PGCE, Honours, Masters (Maths, Science, Accounting, Economics, Intermediate Phase, Inclusive Education, Language Teaching & ICT) – 1-4 Years
SMT: Post Graduate Studies (Strategic Management, Monitoring & Evaluation, Research Technology & Innovation, Policy Development & Implementation, Public Management, BCom, Labour Law) – 1-2 Years

SES. Circuit Managers, DCES & CES: Post Graduate Studies (Strategic Management, Monitoring & Evaluation,Research Technology & Innovation, Management & Leadership, Policy Development & Implementation, Project Management) – 1-2 Years
- School & Office Based Admin
Level 1-8: Certificate & Diploma, BTech (Public Management, HRM, SCM & Financial Management) – 1-4 Years
Level 9-12: Post Graduate Studies (Strategic Management, Monitoring & Evaluation, SCM, HRM, Accounting, Labour Law, Risk Management, Project Management) – 1-2 Years
*Unqualified and underqualified educators are encouraged to apply and will be prioritized. *School Based & Office Administrators who are not in possession of a National Diploma or Degree are encouraged to apply. *Employees studying towards the prioritized areas of specialization will receive the highest priority.
CRITERIA FOR EMPLOYEES
- Applicants must be permanently employed by the EC Department of Education.
- Applicants must have met minimum requirements from their university of choice.
- Due to the high number of Unqualified / Underqualified educators, the department is compelled to give preference to these educators.
- The chosen qualification must be NQF aligned and credited by the relevant statutory bodies.
- Applicants must attach proof of admission from a university of his / her choice.
- Application to study is the students responsibility.
NB: Employees must drop their application forms at HRD offices in their districts.
