DSI-CSIR: Bursaries 2021

The Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) in partnership with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) invites applications for a bursary under the DSI-CSIR Inter-Bursary Support (IBS) Programme 2021.

Bursary Application Closing date is 23 October 2020

Eligibility:

Students approved for or registered for full-time studies at any South African public university, who intend to register or are registered for the following degrees:

  • Honours/4th year Engineering/BTech/Advanced Diploma
  • Masters
  • Doctoral

Focus areas:

The thematic research focus areas for the bursary are restricted to the following research areas:

  • Aerospace
  • Composites
  • Modelling and digital sciences (data science, biometrics, cybersecurity etc)
  • Microsystems Technology
  • Titanium (manufacturing elements)
  • Photonics (free space communication, fibre-optics, laser welding and optics)
  • Biotechnology (Biopharming, bio- processing and bio – catalysis)
  • Information and Communications Technology
  • Health
  • Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS)

Value of the bursary award per annum:

  • Honours  : R90 000
  • Masters   : R100 000
  • PhD         : R130 000
