About the Donald White/ Mandla A. Ndwanya Memorial Fund
Founded in 2012 to honor the legacies of Donald White, a dedicated educator, and Mandla Andrew Ndwanya, a passionate advocate for business studies, the Memorial Fund seeks to support students in their pursuit of higher education. The fund was registered as a Non-Profit Organization (NPO) in the United States in 2017, and its mission is to empower students by providing scholarships and practical support. This includes assisting learners from local schools with uniforms, shoes, and offering scholarships for further education at colleges and universities.
Additionally, the fund collaborates with Volunteer Adventure Corps (VAC) to provide internship opportunities for U.S.-based college students in Cape Town, further enriching cross-cultural experiences.
About the Bursary Program
The Donald White/ Mandla A. Ndwanya Memorial Fund is now inviting applications for its 2025 bursary program, providing financial assistance to two students. Each bursary is worth R10,000, and the funds will be awarded to the following:
- 1st Year Student: One bursary available
- 2nd or 3rd Year Student: One bursary available
These bursaries are intended to cover registration fees and textbook/technology fees for the successful applicants. Unfortunately, the bursary does not cover any outstanding study fees or student loans (historical debt).
Fields of Study Covered by the Bursary
The bursary is available for undergraduate studies in the following fields:
- Business Studies
- Commerce
- Education
- Healthcare
- Medicine
- Social Work
Eligibility Criteria
Before applying, please ensure that you meet the following criteria:
- You must have completed Matric.
- You must have attended a high school in the Western Cape.
- You must be studying or intending to study an undergraduate qualification in one of the specified fields at a recognized FET College or University in South Africa.
- You must demonstrate a financial need.
- You must be passionate about community service.
