The Department of Sport, Arts, and Culture is offering a bursary programme for studies in heritage-related fields.
About the Bursary:
- Aim: To support students pursuing studies in heritage-related programmes accredited and registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training.
- Department Overview: Responsible for developing and implementing national policies and programmes regarding sport and recreation in South Africa.

Bursary Coverage:
- Maximum Value: R110,000 per student.
- Covers study fees, prescribed books, and electronic devices (up to R10,000).
- Additional coverage for accommodation, meals, and transportation (where applicable).
- Funds payable directly to the higher institution of learning.
Fields of Study Covered:
Various heritage-related fields including Anthropology, Archaeology, Archives, Conservation, Museum Studies, Indigenous Knowledge Systems, History, Digital Heritage, and Fine Arts.
Eligibility Requirements:
- South African citizenship.
- Provisional acceptance/admission letter from the institution.
- Age not older than 40 years.
- Satisfactory academic performance.
- Studying in a heritage-related field.
- Not employed full-time with a salary exceeding R350,000.
- Consideration for bursary if tuition fees exceed DSAC’s threshold.
