De Beers Group invites South African unemployed graduates to apply for Sorter Traineeship Programme 2024 / 2025.

This job offers a unique opportunity to develop skills in rough diamond sorting and valuation, following the principles of De Beers Group. The position focuses on hands-on training in sorting diamonds using specialized tools and adhering to strict protocols. The role requires meticulous attention to safety, security, and production standards while working within a team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE)
   • Perform tasks in line with SHE standards.
   • Report any unsafe conditions or behaviors.
2. Security
   • Maintain product confidentiality and security.
   • Report any security breaches to the relevant authorities.
3. Production
   • Ensure completion of production tasks with a “Right-First-Time” approach.
   • Operate diamond sorting technology and capture data accurately.
   • Apply available systems for production tasks and ensure deadlines are met.
4. Team Effectiveness
   • Actively participate in team functions and meetings.
   • Contribute to a positive work environment and help achieve team deadlines.
5. Performance Management
   • Identify and address personal development needs with the Senior Training Instructor.
   • Continuously improve technical skills and seek help when necessary.

Qualifications:

• Matric with a 50% pass in Mathematics, English, and another official language.
• Experience in Diamond Valuation/Grading is advantageous.

Physical Requirements:

• Good eyesight, manual dexterity, and 3D visualization skills.
• Not color blind.

Skills:

• Strong communication and listening skills.
• High integrity and willingness to work in a controlled security environment.
• Deadline-driven, detail-oriented, reliable, and flexible.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and Word.

Preference: Employment Equity (EE) candidates will receive preference.
