NC(V) Pass Requirements

To successfully progress through NC(V) NQF Levels 2 to 4:

  • Must pass all 7 subjects per level
  • Vocational Subjects: Minimum 50% per subject
  • Fundamental Subjects:
    • Life Orientation: 40%
    • English First Additional Language: 40%
    • Mathematics/Mathematical Literacy: 30%
  • Only one fundamental subject may be condoned (by max of 5%). Vocational subjects must be passed with no condonement.

Graduates who meet all requirements are awarded an NC(V) Level 4 Certificate, making them eligible for university admission (depending on the qualification achieved), job opportunities, or entrepreneurship.


NATED Programmes Explained

The NATED/Report 191 qualification system is ideal for students pursuing vocational education and training in engineering, business, or utility fields.

  • Engineering Trimester System: Complete up to 3 levels (N1–N3) in one year.
  • Work-Based Learning: Complete N6 and acquire 24 months of in-service training for diploma eligibility.
  • Business & Utility Studies: After N6, complete 18 months of practical experience to apply for a National Diploma.
  • Pass Mark: Minimum of 40% per subject with at least 80% attendance required to sit for final exams.
