City of Cape Town Metro Police Learnership 2024 – 1,000 PostsThe City of Cape Town is offering an exciting opportunity for learners to join their Metro Police Learnership Programme in 2024. This initiative aims to provide training in Road Traffic Law Enforcement and Metro Police, helping to address youth unemployment and enhance skills development.Learnership Details:

  • Ref no: SS 72/23Allowance: R68,461 per annumDuration: 18 months (1 December 2023 to 31 May 2025)

Learnership Conditions: Candidates should note the following conditions:

  • The City is not obligated to offer permanent positions after the training.Extensive physical training is required.Candidates must comply with the Firearm and Ammunitions Act.Successful candidates will be required to wear a uniform, work shifts, and operate in all weather conditions.

Application Requirements: To be eligible for this learnership, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 qualificationMedically and physically fitValid Code B Driving LicenceAbility to work in a team and handle stressful situationsNo criminal recordPermanent residency within Cape Town’s jurisdiction

Fitness Requirements: Shortlisted candidates will undergo a compulsory fitness test, including a 2.4 km run, push-ups, and sit-ups.Other Requirements: Candidates will be required to:

  • Pass a written assessment and an interviewSubmit fingerprints or identity numbers for criminal record checksUndergo a City medical evaluationTake a compulsory drug test and continuous random drug testsMaintain fitness levels and undergo ongoing fitness assessmentsAbide by the Metropolitan Police Training Academy’s code of conduct

  • Only applicants with no criminal record and no pending criminal cases will be considered.Only applicants who pass a compulsory drug test will be considered.No late applications will be considered.Candidates should not expect a job offer based on testing and competence alone.Canvassing for posts within the Council’s Service is prohibited and will disqualify the application.Candidates must make themselves available to work as rostered without other employment or private business.
