SANSA provides post graduate degree bursaries to contribute to the national target for qualified post-graduates in science and engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Field of Study<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Our project mandate includes but is not limited to the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earth Observation (Hons, MSc, PhD)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Remote sensing<\/li><li>Geospatial programming<\/li><li>Earth system science with remote sensing<\/li><li>Earth observations in ecosystems accounting<\/li><li>Applications of remote sensing in environmental management including oceans and marine, agriculture and rangelands, water resource management, mineral resource and spatial planning<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Engineering (MEng, MTech, MSc, PHD, DTech)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Software and software systems engineering<\/li><li>Aeronautical, aerospace, mechanical, electrical, electronic, mechatronic and computer engineering<\/li><li>Space, systems, antenna and RF engineering<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Space Science (Hons, MSc, MPhil, PhD)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Antarctic radar studies of climate change<\/li><li>Multi-instrument studies of space weather<\/li><li>Modelling geomagnetically induced currents in power systems<\/li><li>Multi scale ionospheric physics, structure and dynamics<\/li><li>Ionospheric and radio propagation modelling<\/li><li>Theory of waves and solutions in plasmas<\/li><li>Solar physics<\/li><li>Space Weather forecasting and verification aligned to navigation and radiation applications<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>All SANSA divisions (Hons, MSc, PhD)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Computer science<\/li><li>Information systems<\/li><li>Software and systems engineering<\/li><li>Data Science<\/li><li>Field of your choice related to key SANSA objectives<\/li><li>Space, systems, antenna and RF engineering<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Please visit our research portal <a href=\"https:\/\/research.sansa.org.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/research.sansa.org.za\/<\/a> for further information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bursary criteria<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The main criteria used in the selection of successful applicants are financial need, academic potential and career-oriented study programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>An application will only be considered if it has been completed properly and in full.<\/li><li>Documents that accompany the application form must be <strong><em>uploaded<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>certified<\/em><\/strong>.<\/li><li>Testimonial form must be completed by the supervisor and uploaded to the application form.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bursary Value<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>For the <strong>2021<\/strong>&nbsp;academic year successful applicants will receive bursaries with values as stated below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Hons \u2013 R85 000 (one year).<\/li><li>Masters \u2013 R100 000 per year for two years.<\/li><li>PhD \u2013 R130 000 per year for three years.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants may not hold a combination of bursaries that exceed these amounts.
