Tronox invites South African students to apply for Bursary Programme 2024 academic year.
Bursary Application Closing Date: 24 May 2024
Bursaries will be awarded for undergraduate studies (B Eng/ BSc Degree/ B Tech Advanced Diploma), within the following fields:
- Chemical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Geology
- Instrumentation & Control
- Mechanical Engineering
- Metallurgical Engineering
- Mining Engineering
- Process Safety Engineering
- Survey
The bursary will provide cover for the following expenses: registration fees, tuition fees, textbooks, laptop, residential fees, meals and personal expenses.
Bursary recipients will also be able to partake in practical work, as prescribed by their institution. They may also be offered exciting career prospects.
Successful candidates will be placed at any of Tronox Business Unit Operations on completion of studies.
Applicants will undergo a selection process, which may include psychometric assessments, background screening and medical examinations.
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted – if you do not receive any feedback within 4 weeks of the application deadline, please regard your application as unsuccessful.
Requirements
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
- You must be a South African citizen
- You must have completed Matric
- You must be studying towards one of the qualifications listed above
- You must be in your 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of study in 2024
- You must be registered at a recognised and accredited University or University of Technology in South Africa
- Preference will be given to students residing in local communities surrounding the Tronox Namakwa Sands sites (Saldanha and Matzikama Municipalities)

- Covering letter indicating which discipline you are applying for
- ID document (certified copy)
- Matric certificate (certified copy)
- Latest academic record (certified copy)
- Proof of registration / acceptance letter for 2024
- Curriculum Vitae
- Proof of residence
Note: there is no application form to be completed for this bursary application – students need only submit the list of above documents to apply.
