AFGRI: Internships 2017 in South Africa

AFGRI is offering Internships Programme for the academic year 2017 in aSouth Africa. This is a 12 months long internship programme and the interns will receive a monthly stipends during their placement.  AFGRI’s main focuses in capacity building and human capital development is to address scarce, critical and key skills deficit within the organization. The Internship Program has been identified as an initiative that the organization would embark upon to address these concerns.

Requirements :


1. The Intern must:

  • Have successfully completed either an Undergraduate or Post Graduate qualification or currently on the final year
  • Be a South African Citizen
  • Ideally have excellent results (meritorious/outstanding)
  • Avail themselves for assessment process as defined by the company
  • Sign a contract binding him/her to work for the company for the term determined by the company

2. The company will:

  • Prioritize qualifications that are most relevant to business needs
  • Assist Interns eigiving them experience and exposure to the different business units at AFGRI
  • Ensure the process is fair and just to all qualifying Interns
  • Ensure that the AFGRI transformation strategy and organizational talent plan is taken into consideration

3. Intern with relevant qualifications and skills will be considered

  • BCom Marketing
  • BSc Food Science
  • Passion for converting agricultural raw material into high quality food products
  • Passion to match the consumer needs with the right products
  • The ability to translate consumer insights into a real product
  • The ability to connect to consumers and brainstorm
  • Find and gather solutions
  • A highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills
  • Verbal and Numerical Skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Team player
  • Goal oriented and deadline driven

All applications of qualifying Interns must be validated according to the company’s pre-defined process.

  • Applicants that will be considered are those who are in their final year of either an undergraduate or post graduate qualification in 2017
  • The Intern will be required to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to become a well-adjusted, knowledgeable and developed individual
  • The Intern will attend training covering both soft and technical skills as and when the business need arises
  • A coach/supervisor with a comprehensive knowledge of what it takes to achieve the chosen professional qualification will be allocated to the Intern
  • The Intern will receive on the job support through regular coaching sessions
  • The Intern will have the opportunity to network and build relationships with other Interns on the program from across the business
