Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality invites students to apply for Bursary Programme for 2025 academic year.

The Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality is located in the Limpopo Province, within the Sekhukhune District. This rural municipality has a population of over 270,000 residents, spanning more than 2000 square kilometers. The municipality’s main language is Sepedi, and it is known for its traditional land ownership. The municipality is named “Makhuduthamaga,” which refers to the executives or leaders of the Fetakgomo movement from the 1950s.

About the Bursary Programme

The Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality is offering a bursary for undergraduate studies in 2025. The bursary is open to students who reside within the municipality’s jurisdiction in Limpopo, and will support studies in the following fields:

  1. Accounting
  2. Chemical Engineering
  3. Civil Engineering
  4. Economics
  5. Environmental Science
  6. Mechanical Engineering
  7. Mining Engineering
  8. Regional and Town Planning
  9. Waste Management

A total budget of R3 million has been allocated for external bursaries, prioritizing students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds.

Coverage Value

The bursary will cover the following expenses:

  • Registration fee
  • Tuition fees
  • Study materials
  • Accommodation
  • Meals

Eligibility Requirements

  • Reside within the Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality area in Limpopo
  • Currently in Matric or have completed Matric
  • Intend to study or already studying full-time towards an undergraduate qualification in one of the specified fields
  • Accepted or provisionally accepted to study at a registered and accredited South African institution
  • Strong academic record
  • Financial need

  2. Complete the application form.
  3. Submit the following documents (clear, certified copies):
