Job Overview:

Armscor is looking for a Messenger to join their team, helping ensure the smooth and efficient operation of their internal communication systems. In this role, you’ll be handling various mail and document duties, including sorting, delivering, and ensuring the safety and confidentiality of important information.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Storage and Sorting: Organizing archived documents and sorting incoming and outgoing mail for distribution.
  • Collection & Distribution: Picking up signals from Navy HQ and delivering them to the relevant recipients. You’ll also be tasked with collecting mail from the Registry and ensuring that it’s logged appropriately.
  • Messenger Support: Provide messenger duties to divisional managers, ensuring prompt delivery and collection of materials.
  • Post Office Duties: Collecting and checking postage at the Post Office and managing related documentation.
  • Mail Handling: Prioritize urgent mail and ensure that all mail is properly signed for upon receipt. You will also need to handle classified materials with care, following security protocols.
  • Ad-Hoc Tasks: Assist with additional tasks as required by SHEQ management.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Driver’s License (Essential for the role)

Experience Required:

  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar business environment.
  • A background in handling documents, managing communication, and ensuring efficiency within an office or similar setting will be an advantage.

Skills & Proficiency:

  • Strong reading and writing skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and articulate ideas clearly.
  • Physically fit to handle tasks like lifting, walking, and cycling to various points within the Dockyard.
  • Confidentiality and a high level of security consciousness are key to this role.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Proficient in using office equipment such as photocopiers and shredding machines.
  • Be a team player, honest, and reliable.
