Knysna Rotary invites South African student to apply for Bursary Programme 2025 academic year.

- Ambulance Training
- Architectural Drawing
- Business Management
- Education
- Engineering
- Firefighting
- Journalism
- Law
- Marketing
- Media and Communication
- Medicine
- Nature Conservation
- Nursing and Caring
- Social Work
Coverage Value & Payment Details
The bursary offers partial funding ranging from R6 000 to R30 000, focusing on fields that align with Rotary’s mission, including basic education, maternal and child health, and economic and community development. Here’s how the payment works:
- Initial Payment: Half of the awarded amount is paid to the educational institution after successful application processing.
- Final Payment: The remaining half is released once the student successfully passes their mid-year exams.
Note: As this bursary only covers part of the study costs, applicants must have additional financial support to cover the remainder of their educational expenses.
Renewal and Selection Process
The bursary is awarded for one academic year. Recipients must reapply each year for continued funding. The selection process includes a comprehensive interview, and applications are reviewed by the bursary committee.
Successful applicants are encouraged to engage in Rotary fundraising activities and to promote volunteering within their community.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Knysna Rotary Bursary, applicants must:
- Have resided in Knysna for at least 5 years.
- Be in Matric or have completed Matric.
- Intend to study towards an undergraduate qualification in one of the specified fields (postgraduate studies are not covered).
- Have a minimum overall average of 50%.
- Demonstrate another source of funding.
Preference Will Be Given To Candidates Who:
- Understand the details of their chosen course and future career path.
- Show strong academic performance and involvement in leadership or community activities.
- Exhibit excellent communication skills and a solid work ethic.
- Have researched accommodation and travel options.
- Plan to work during holidays to support themselves financially.
- Are knowledgeable about Rotary International and current affairs.
- Have financial support from parents or guardians.
