Govan Mbeki Local Municipality is seeking applications for the position of Traffic Officers (16 x positions).

Location: Secunda, Mpumalanga

Position: Traffic Officers (16 positions available)

• Department: Community Services
• Post Reference: 2023-2024/45
• Salary: R289,572.00 per annum (Post Level 8) + Normal company benefits and a 25% Non-Pensionable allowance.

Requirements:

• Grade 12
• Traffic Diploma
• 2 to 5 years of relevant experience
• Valid Code B driver’s license or higher
• Fire Arms Competency Certificate
• Medical, mental, and physical fitness for traffic officer duties
• Ability to work abnormal hours and during emergencies
• Proficiency in at least two official languages, one of which must be English
• Computer literacy
• Ability to work with minimum supervision
• No criminal record (valid SAPS Clearance Certificate required)

Key Performance Areas:

• Coordinating traffic flow and public safety activities
• Monitoring and acting on inappropriate behavior
• Enforcing compliance with traffic and public safety by-laws
• Undertaking activities during emergencies
• Completing reports and documentation
• Collaborating with SAPS, Fire, and Traffic departments

Special Conditions:

• Uniform may be required
• Exposure to all weather conditions
• Carrying firearms may be required
• Subject to vetting
