Gibela: Bursaries 2024 for TVET students

Gibela invites Siouth African students to apply for Bursary Programme 2024

About the Bursary:

The Gibela Bursary Programme offers bursaries for students pursuing studies at TVET Colleges in various technical fields such as:

  • Boiler-making,
  • Control and Instrumentation Technicians,
  • Electricians,
  • Fitters and Turners,
  • Mechanics,
  • Millwrights,
  • Pattern-makers
  • Plumbers
  • Vehicle
  • Builders
  • Welders

Expenses Covered:

  • Full tuition fees.
  • Book allowance.

Renewal and Selection:

Bursaries are granted for one year at a time, renewable based on satisfactory academic performance. Shortlisted candidates will be notified by 28 February 2024.

Eligibility Criteria:

To qualify for this bursary, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Must have completed Matric with a minimum result of level 4 in Mathematics, Science, and English.
  • Must be studying or intending to study in one of the listed technical fields at a recognized and accredited TVET institution in South Africa.
  • Must show strong academic potential and financial need.
  • Current N3 and N4 students are encouraged to apply.

How to Apply:

Eligible students should submit copies of the following documents:

  • South African ID document (certified copy).
  • Full academic record (certified copies).
  • Short Curriculum Vitae.
  • Proof of parents or guardians’ income (latest payslips, affidavit, or proof of grant/pension if applicable) (certified copy).
  • Proof of acceptance for admission from a South African TVET institution (on the institution’s letterhead).

There’s no application form to complete. Applicants must submit the required documents via email to gibelabursaries@communityrail.co.za or via fax to 086 246 2666. Ensure to include “Gibela Bursary 2024 TVET” in the email subject line.

Closing Date:

The closing date for applications is 2 February 2024. Late submissions will not be considered, so make sure to apply before the deadline to ensure your application is reviewed.
