The eDumbe Local Municipality is now inviting applications for its Financial Internship Programme (x5 posts). This is a valuable opportunity to gain real-world experience in local government finance and make a difference in your community.
Internship Overview

- Annual Salary: R115,000 (all-inclusive)
Who Should Apply?
The programme is aimed at unemployed South African graduates between the ages of 18 and 35, particularly those from the local community, who hold a qualification in finance or accounting.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 with Accountancy
- National Certificate in Accounting, BCom Degree, or National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Financial Management
- Computer literacy and strong communication and analytical skills
- Must be unemployed and have no prior experience
- Preference will be given to local residents, women, and persons with disabilities
Key Responsibilities
Interns will be supervised by the Chief Financial Officer and exposed to critical finance functions such as:
- Implementation of GAMAP/GRAP standards
- Preparation of budget returns
- VAT management
- Monthly and annual financial statements
- Performance reporting, expenditure, and revenue management
- Exposure to procurement, supply chain management, and compliance with MFMA
- Participation in policy development and risk/project management
This internship will provide solid exposure to both the public sector finance environment and the legislative frameworks guiding municipal governance.
